Dragons: Legends and Lore of Dinosaurs by Master Books

Dragons: Legends and Lore of Dinosaurs by Master Books

This book explores the connection between historical accounts and legends surrounding dragons.  The premise of the book is to argue that because of the pervasiveness of draconic legends throughout the world’s cultures that there had to be some sort of physical creature or creatures, which were seen by real people who had contact with them. The best solution once we strip away the supernatural elements around dragons is dinosaurs. The book presents the evidence for a creationist worldview and logically makes the connection of how the evidence can fit together to make a case that dinosaurs and humans could have coexisted together.
The book is intended to be read by an elementary audience and up. I would say the because of the advanced vocabulary used throughout the book that it would be hard for the target range of elementary school students (6+ years), unless read with an adult. Independently this book would be best read and understood at a junior high level.
The pictures are engaging and beautifully done enhancing the intrigue and mystery of the legends and lore explored within. The book is fast paced and exciting to read. The only draw back for me in this book was the countless website URLs that are quoted at the end of various legends and other sources. I felt that this was a drawback to the overall readability of the book.
Overall I would recommend this book to be added to any public or school library. It provides an easy readability, minus the vocabulary, that is presented in attractive and inspiring format. On a scale of 1 – 5 stars, I would rate it a solid 4 stars.

Disclosure of Material Connection: I received this book free from the publisher through the New Leaf Publishers.com <http://www.newleafpublishinggroup.com/> book review bloggers program.
